This car was off the road since 1992 the mileage which is just over 47,000 is believed to be correct.
It has had the following new parts
full external respray.
complete clutch,
new windscreen,
new Bosch battery
new front brake discs.
new front brake shoes.
new rear brake cylinders.
new rear brake pipes.
new front upper and lower ball joints.
new track road ends.
two new front wings.
new plugs.
new oil filter and oil.
new air filter.
new petrol filter stainless.
Bad bits, the fuel gauge is temperamental,
radio does not work and the wiring to the tow bar requires attention.
the jack provided that came with the car is from a ford Fiesta.
The petrol tank plus the pump was removed and cleaned, all the petrol line was flushed and cleaned
The engine and gearbox now run smoothly.
All the Tyres are well threaded including the spare wheel which although fits the car came from a pre -1984 Renault 4

Nice looking 4 although the pictures of the interior with all the wires showing detract somewhat, especially when asking strong money. recently sold my master camper and it took me two days tidying the interior and half a day on the outside, just making it look good for the photos.

Good luck with your sale.

I'm sure your right however, if a few loose wires puts a potential buyer off then I don't think he or she can be seeing the bigger picture, as for the price I am open to any reasonable offer and if I don't get any I will sell it on Ebay to the highest bidder.
Some cars that I have been to see over the years were rubbish and their owners wanted a small fortune for them, at least mine is ready for the road with an mot and has had lots done to it to bring it up to scratch, not perfect by a long chalk but very presentable.

Hi Billy, so the time has come then. Your car looks just fine, and the price is about right I would say. Good luck with your sale, hope the right person comes along, an enthusiast, not a chancer. Regards, Brian.:)

worth the bread

Thanks Brian,
What a lot of people don't or can't understand is all the hours of unpaid work that it takes to refurbish a classic car, then when you take in the cost of the parts plus the respray and putting it through an MOT so it's there for them to collect as the finished project.
The only reason I am selling is because I have too many cars and I struggle to get into a small car with my arthritis in the spine.

I quite agree Billy, so much time can go into refurbishing a car plus as you say all the other stuff. Still, atleast you've had some pleasure from the car, and now it's someone elses turn to keep it going. Sorry you've had health problems, but I hope you enjoy your other cars, and will keep an eye on us bods in our 4s. Regards, Brian.:)

Sometimes you never even get back what you've spent. I think 4L's have reached a point where their prices are frozen. Quite a lot have come out of the barns over the last year, you only need to look in the restoration part of the forum to see this.

I went with my uncle to but an ex dordogne 4L this week. Tatty, bright orange 845cc and needing some tidying but it is solid and a worth while buy for £200. I would have bought it just for the chassis.

I'm my experience people either want cheap runabouts or shiney Sunday cars.

Yes I agree with you totally but the good thing about it all is I can always put it back in the garage and throw a load of old blankets over it if I want to,then just wait a few more years before I sell it, after all it isn't going to go down in price like a modern car.

Well I have put the old car on Ebay for a week to see what happens, if it comes to the crunch and it doesn't sell I'll just keep her and sell one of my other cars.

Well I never even got a bid on the old car on Ebay however, just after the auction I got three phone calls asking how much would I sell for, is this the new way of getting a car on the cheap? no chance!
