Am still having problems finding the correct mech.fuel-pump (Sofabex 3026) its the 2 in/outlet-type..

UNO:
-Could I just use the other type w.the 3rd (return to tank)outlet if I blind this? or will blanking this foul up the operation of pump?

DOS:
Are there any reasons to mount a resistor-type (ballast-type) coil? mine has no ballast on it-and I can't see any unusual pitting on contacts either.
Ballast are there(only)to prevent pitting-or am I off once again?

-another rainy day in Norway.-R.

If you use the later type then it's ok to blank off the return to the tank - but do make a good job of it!!!!

Ballast resistor coils fitted with a ballast resistor use a lower voltage. The idea is to allow a good spark when cranking the starter motor. On R4's no need to use one of these - a standard good quality coil is fine. Do get yourself a gizmo to prevent the points burning - there has already been a lot said on this under various electronic ignition threads.

Regards

Steve

Hi reidalpine,

I respond to you in this topic of yours - not to hijack my restoration thread any further ;) - regarding the rubber door seals for the back door(s) of the van I bought.

The place is www.melun-retro-passion.com they ship worldwide and have a downloadable catalogue on their page (that helps a lot especially if you are not able to decipher all the french terms!).

My rubber sealants came as a set (more than enough material, I had to cut away a few inches on every single seal!).

I attach three pictures of the three different seals so you can see what profile they are.

-1- The "giraffon"
-2- The long seal that attaches to the body (the whole way around the doors)
-3- The seal on the underside of the rear door

HTH!

David

Thanx much David! I see they are totally different from on the F4-as I don't have that edge where you push these in..Mine have a laying-flat D shape to them -meant to be glued on-I will have alook at the MRP-site to see what their F4-rubber looks like. -R.

Here is a wiring diagram, if it can help you. :) It could be useful in a winter seasone. I have the ignition coil resistor on my later model. Pavel

Thanx for the wiring-diagram Pavel! I will keep an eye on the contacts to see how they behave themselves..but useful to have the diagram
Up here they salt the roads at a pace and volume so I suspect they have a share huge in the salt-mines -R.
