Things people do on a hot Saturday afternoon in the Vendee : Go out for a bicycle ride and pass Ian's house with 200 other cyclists as company and here are some pics..What a thrill to have the Tour de France go right past our house this afternoon - It was steaming hot and there were hundreds of people watching from the roadside and having waited for 2 hours when the 200 cyclists finally went past, I realised it was well worth the wait.. an amazing spectacle.

You would have loved it Pepper..

Hi Ian, you lucky chap, that's a spectical I would love to see, as I did a bit of time-trialing in my younger days. I see the race is passing close by to Thenay, but a week early on this coming Friday. By the time I get to France they will be up in the mountains.

It is a shame we aren't there as it went right past our village too!

Never mind id rather be riding than watching, although the for the centenary TDF we went to Paris for the final day, Judith and I spent the weekend in Paris and ten watched the final day of the tour on the champs élysées . It was a great weekend.

I guess now I will settle for watching, havn't ridden for sometime. Seeing the finish of the TDF in Paris must have been really something, it surely doesn't get much better than that.

Luckily for me, Judith recorded the days racing on British Eurosport, and I've just seen them ride through, Mareuil Sur Lay, and Mouilleron En Pared too ;) ;) :)

Bit of a tense day today, and a few fallen riders too, all because a spectator was looking the other way and nudged a rider. They are tough boys though aren't they, and they usually bounce back and get on with it. Glad you got to see your bit of France on telly.

i tried to see you on tv ian but i didnt, sorry
