sorry for my inglish
I am from Spain .I have 5v gearbox of r5 tx, is possible change for 4v gearbox, I think is possible but have a problem whith change 4v/5v selector

You can fit the R4 gearshift lever by simply swapping covers (use the cover from the R4). Search earlier posts, we had discussed this topic in detail earlier.

Is it just a case of swapping the cover? I'd thought some of the selector mechanism in the cover of the TX gearbox had to be bolted to the Renault 4 gearbox cover so that 5th gear could be selected.

Haven't tried it yet though so I could be wrong.

The Renault 4 gearbox top cover and gear stick works when you move part of the selector mechanism across from the 5 speed gearbox top cover. I've circled the part in the photo. It's an easy change - it just bolts on in place of the Renault 4 part.

Reverse is in the same plane as 5th gear, and the detent spring is more stiff than you would want for 5th gear. I might try to find a different way of preventing reverse from being accidentilly selected, and mount a spring on the gear lever rather than inside the gearbox top cover.

The crossmember changes are more difficult: http://www.renault4.co.uk/gordini-gearbox.htm

I think it has only to do with the stiffness when entering the 5th-reverse axis. But since you have the R5 top cover, you can easily fit its selector. Did the R5 have some sort of inhibitor to prevent reverse being selected from 5th?

Just tried the R5 Gordini (different 5 speed box) and it doesn't have any inhibitor - just a strong spring on the 5th/reverse plane like I'd end up with if I leave things as they are.

Probably will leave things as they are unless the 5th gear is difficult to select with the dash mounted gear stick.

I think the same change will work on your gearbox as mine. There are some differences on my gearbox in the shape of the selector attached to the gear stick, but I think these are to allow for the difference in movement in the selector between the R4 and R5.

Try moving the lower selector from the R5 to R4 gearboxes and reassembling the gearbox - if you can select all gears then it is OK!
