There's been quite a few elderly renault's in relatively good condition on Ebay in the last few weeks, although the regular trickle of Ren 4's seems to have dried up. :( This blue 56 Juva van ( Ebay item: 380106621457) must now be quite rare and very collectable. It has a lot of style  and seems to be in relatively good condition. It's located in France but fortunately just outside the Paris '60' danger zone. This cool van has been a film star - I'm wondering if it's listed on Ebay in France. :)

Brian, I couldn't see it on French eBay but there was a 1938 black one in super condition being sold by the Automusée du Forez. Starting price 8,400 euros. It's worth looking at the other old cars they have for sale if you like drooling over that sort of thing. www.automusee.fr

some very very nice cars on there...

Quelle Voitures!

Many thanks Mme. Bluebelle, excuse my budding 'pigmy' french, just started night class for absolute rock bottom beginners. I've thoroughly enjoyed this site (union jack button) in the english version. Having seen the prices of the 2 MGA's listed I think Malcolm can start to plan his retirement to the tax haven of his choice. I wish modern car designers would take some cues from the post war saloons - seperate wings/bonnets and sloping rooflines. The Chrysler PT Cruiser is the only 'retro' attempt I can think of - I' m sure there's is a market. Retro has worked for Fiat with the new 500 - Renault could do the same with the 4, after all, it is equally iconic.:D

You are nearly there, Brian. It would be 'Quelles voitures' as you have to make the basic 'quel' both feminine and plural.

Learning French gets much easier as you go on, and don't worry about the feeling you are not getting anywhere as you will progress in sudden leaps and then plateau for a bit. These days I just say anything if I'm not sure, sometimes the English word with a french accent (any of the words ending in -ation seem OK). Then I pause to be corrected and I'm amazed when it's acceptable! Bonne chance!

BTW I'd much rather have that 1952 4CV for 7,900 euros, or that Spider for much the same price than any modern second hand car.

The decouvrable at €20900 seems a bit steep - its probably the monoroue remorque that pushes up the price - hope so as we've got one in the barn to go with the '56 4CV! :o

Monoroue remorque? Would that translate as a one wheeled trailer? How do they work?

Must have a pin type coupling that allows only one degree of freedom (on the "pitch" axis).

You're right Malcolm, its got only one wheel, its coupled to the car by a couple of short bars a bit like a wheelbarrow that pivot in the up and down plane. We had to make up a special 'towbar' to fit on the back of the car.
I think I have got a pic somewhere of a coupling, will try to find it later and post it (our car and trailer are a bit inaccessable at the back of a barn).

One wheel on my wagon............

Visit 'w.w.w.singlewheel.com' and all, and I do mean all, will be revealed. This site lists the whole history and provides info and pix for every manufacturer on the planet. :)

Ours is an Erde, identical to the grey one in the third row down.
Not long returned from the bourse d'echange (autojumble) at Pontorson, there was a simple platform type one on sale there at €450 - madame reckoned it was the same chap selling it that ours came from.

Barn Wanted

That settles it! I'm bringing my debts, tent, Tcut, spanners + fibre glass kit over the channel and then arrange an offshore account. ;) Everyone there seems to own a barn full of chique classic vehicles. The only problem is sorting out this le/la/l' lingo business.
