If l use tapet valve of Renault 850cc engine is it going to fit in my 1100cc engine? I will appreciate your help

Hello Ndelilio, the part you are looking for is the adjustment stud. It has a ball shape at the bottom to fit into the cup of the pushrod.

Are you sure that it is still not in the top somewhere, because there is no way for it to fall through into the bottom of the engine.
After you screw it into the rocker arm, it is also supposed to have a locking nut at the top to keep it tight and in place.

I'm pretty sure that the studs are the same in both engines, 850 and 1100.

In your photo the studs on the left and right are also not fitted into the push rod cups. Did you loosen them as well? When you find a replacement, make sure that you adjust the valve clearance on the other side of the rocker arm with a feeler gauge. Very important otherwise you will break something.

Helow mojobaby....we have already remove all oil in the engine and open cylinder head and look for that stud but invain...maybe its inside engine...we only get its locking but..its bit expensive to open the whole engine...that is why l want to use that adjuatment stud of engine of 850cc behalf of my lost stud..

Where did you find the nut Ndelilio?

Depending on where that was could give us direction on what to do next. The fact that the parts are NOT in a combustion chamber is very good news! On reflection, how could they get there?

I would suggest that the 850cc one would be a worthwhile substitute if you have it already. I would only use this as a TEMPORARY SOLUTION at this stage.

There are a few thoughts that I have. Getting the car mobile is obviously the first one. That is what this reply is about. I wouldn't drive Jambo far from home at the moment until we know a bit more........

Hi David....that but l got near stud.. Around the cover....l'l try my level best to find stud of 850 engine to fit it...

My thoughts are as follows.
Please don't act on them without other, more expert people on the forum reviewing and commenting. I am NOT a mechanic.

#1 If your car has been running for some time you may risk the replacement from an 850cc.
I'm sure that someone on this forum would gladly post you the parts from an 1108cc motor if you ask. It would not cost a lot, I imagine, and it would fit without worry.

#2. If you think that the part has reached the sump.

*Do Nothing! It's probably not going anywhere! It is far too big to enter the mesh that protects the oil pump.

*You could put the car on a hoist or axle stands and you could put a magnet on the end of a piece of soft wire and feed it through the sump plug hole and see if you can grab it..

*Remove the sump and take the adjuster out for complete peace of mind.

Hi Ndelilio,

I'm quite sure that the missing adjustment stud must be somewhere on top of the cilinder head.
Maybe in one of the corners. On the outer edges. There is no space big enough for it to end up in the sump underneath the engine.

Take a good look again.

An adjustment stud from a 845 will do fine if you can find one. Or I'll be happy to send you one from a 1100.

Please let us know.

Regards, Robert
