Ian and I were discussing the finer points of owning a special Citroen BX with a steel Bonnet, and I mentioned that I was sure someone on here had said there were only around 17 BX's left on the road on the UK,

Now you clever chaps would surely be able to point us to the correct place to find these things out surely?

I'm pretty sure I've heard of a web site which gives the numbers of differeng vehicle models left on the road and I'd love to be able to have a nosey around at it if possible please. :)

And what a fab lunch it was as well..

Thanks Pepper and thanks Judith and thanks Renault4mad for that link - it would seem as though there are only 8 steel bonnetted Citroen BX TGS Athena left in the UK and I have one - B r i l l i a n t

And she is still pooteling around thanks to another mad Renault 4 person - can anyone guess who that is ?

A Fleetwood Mac greatest hits cd to the first person that identifies him?

I've already got Fleetwood Mack on 8 track (really) so won't hazard a guess at the identity of the hippy mechanic.

Fixed it then? Was it the coil thingy in the end? Steel bonnet sounds great - mine had a plastic one and the paint fell off.

Yes it was the coil thingy Malcolm

And check the price difference between Citroen France - 170 Euros and the local Casse Auto- 20 euros!!

Thanks as well Malcolm for the R4 leads - you seem to have filled the bag with a lot of short bits with an odd connection and only two plug lead tipped ones but I have tried changing them all and it still misses like I miss being being a youngster like the rest of you - I am now going to try rotating the distributor by 500mm left and right as you suggested.

They came off a GTL and will fit between distributor cap and plugs - any problems will be operator error. They won't make any difference as leads are not the problem.

Well done Mr R4Mad! You're my favourite person of the day :)

It seems there are a few more BX's left than I had been left to believe, but still not many, isn't it amazing how quickly they disapear

from 182000+ in 1994 to around 2000 now!

I have to agree, BX's are great cars, Mum had an estate version in red and apart from the usless wax choke thingi not working it was a fab car. I spent many a journey asleep in the back of that, and boy could you get some stuff into it. Much like an R4.

>> Malcolm, it was the electric points pack that gave up due to the dizi cap being soo pooly maintained by lord stanbury. and i love the term hippy mechanic.
