Alternative seats

Hi
Does anyone know if any alternative front seats from the Renault range are a reasonably straightforward fit? (Renault 5, for example?) I am just wondering if there is a way of fitting headrests, or getting high backed seats.

Mk1 R5 seats are straightforward to fit. You just need to drill a new hole in the seat runner and they go straight in (from memory).

If you could find them then highback seats out an early 5 Gordini or TS would look great. I had a pair years ago but sold them. Probably a reasonable chance of finding some in France maybe?

Barge option

Hi Barnfind,
I've put a pair of Renault 25 Monaco front seats in mine, which are big old armchair type things in ultra squidgy beige leather. On the 25 seat runners all I had to do was drill one additional hole to get them to fit the r4 seat mounting holes, so they were in, in a morning. Not sure how much use this info is though given how few and far between 25's have got :(

I got clio baccara leather front seats in mine plus had the rear leather taken off and put onto my 4 rear seats...bit of drilling on the original runners but fit fine

I had Renault 16 front seats at some time. Great ones, but they suffered from lack of support on the area just behind the knees. That's typical for any non-R4 seat fitted on an R4, as they were designed for level-standing floorpans...
I have a pair of 5 TS seats on the Jogging right now (yes, Lobster, they look great, but completely out of place on a Jogging), these are not as bad as I was thinking and I have completed some long journeys without any discomfort.
I have also seen Peugeot 106 seats fitted (no clue what modifications were needed). I have also tried to fit early Twingo seats, with no success, as the rail heights are not symmetrical.
