Alternator

Yesterday my red light came on and car died.
1984 R4 GTL

Does anyone know where I can get a new one from? or even a secondhand one.

Probably I have the aternator for R4 and probably it works - but I can't guarantee it for You in 100%...I need to look into my cabinet with parts...

I've got a secondhand one, but if your after a reconditioned one then you'll probably find your local motor factors will be able to either order you one in on exchange or get your own reconditioned.

I am trying to buy a new one as the car is not in England, and I do not have the opriginal unit to exchange, and as it happens I have tried my local motor factors and they have a few diffrerent trypes listed for for a 1984 GTL and not of them match my Ducellier, which is odd as I have another R4 and it has the same alternator also (not working either)!!!!

Both replacement I have found have different mountings....instead of a front and rear with a long bolt only a only at the front

I saw this on ebay france a new old stock alternator Ducellier 7550E 40A with a start price of 45 euros.

If it doesn't matter what the replacement looks like, There are other brands which should fit, depending on the mounting. For example, Delco or Bosch internally-regulated high amperage units which could be had for a fraction of their new price
