anti roll bar

I discovered that my 1984 R4 GTL anti roll bar bushes are split however, I have never come across this type before with a cone shaped bush where the anti roll bar joins the front shocker.

The measurements of the cylinderical bush is 22mm long, inner measurements are 18mm at one end and 20mm approx at the other end.
Can anyone enlighten me on this type of bush and where to buy them or similar replacements.

Are they necesary?
What is their purpose?

MIne are also broken but are cilindrical shape.
I am planing to go tu turner and make them out of some kind hard plastic.

I have feeleing that yours got wasted from use

Petak,
I would assume that everything on a car has a purpose otherwise they wouldn't have put them on there in the first place.
I only thing I can think of is, that they take the strain in conjunction with the rubber anti roll bar stabilisers when cornering.

I believe that there is purpose of that ring.
But not an obvious one!

If you buy that rubber for anti roll bar you do not get ring whit it.

It looks to mi like some kind of washer.

I will replace broken one with poliamid plastic!

I think it is to allow movement for the anti roll bar rubber stabilisers and prevents the bolts that holds it altogether from bending or snapping.
Just a Guess but I could be wrong, there doesn't seem to be many people on this forum that knows where to purchase these or what their purpose is, as you can see by the low response.

Hello petak and billy. These parts are available from De Franzose and Melun Retro Passion.

To be quite honest I have been on the De Franzose site but can't find any Brian
The rubber stabilisers and the middle bushes are available but not the white cone shaped plastic bushes that fit to the stabiliser.

If you download the De Franzose catalogue, they are on page 102 Billy. It looks like they've replaced the cone with a metal sleeve, as far as I can see.

Sorry Cornish4 but on page 102 of renault cataloque i can find only bearings.

Do you refer to this http://www.franzose.de/en/Renault/Alle/Suche/?mainSHOP=Renault&suchbegriff=83226

I must say that one i have removed from car is exactly the same to the one on link that i have give but in addition there is white plastic ring over metal sleeve.

New one that i have bought does not have plastic ring, and sleeve is not bigger in outer diameter

the plastic part is no longer available (7705002001) from Renault, looks like it give a bit of extra protection from any lateral forces on the anti roll bar bush. best advice is to get some made up in ali from someone who has a lathe- easy enough using those measurements.

Apologies to you and Billy Petak, I misunderstood what you were describing. I think, if you know someone with a lathe, that puddlefluffs idea is good as you can't get that part now.

Thank you guys i was looking for that word "lathe". I was thinking of that machine but could not find right word.

Cornish4. no need to apologies. it is all made in good faith. I am glad that we have understand each other

Making of that ring is more than easy job on lathe (hehehe i now THE word now)

I think it can be made even with drill and right drill-bit if it is possible to find peace of round plastic with right outer diameter

Thanks guys,
I am sure I will be able to make some up now that I know they are no longer available or I might be able to source some which are similar from another classic car.

I think that I owe you some feedback.

Here are fresh made two rings.

Material that i have used is PA6
All has been done at local lathe guy.
Luckily he is doing everything for fishing boats (trawler and purse seine fishing boats) so he had material in his workshop. This material fisherman are using for rollers that guides nets when they pull nets from sea.

Cut out and pressed on metal tube for some 15min.
He did not wanted to tell me price for job, but have left him something for drink.
Usual "price" in small towns across Croatia for small services like this one.
Plus i know guy quite well. He is making shafts for vessels according to mine calculations and drawings!

They look great petak, that material is very durable, (hard wearing), so it should last a long time. I've replaced my anti-roll bar with a stiffer one from a R5 Turbo (16mm dia), and noticed one of the these spacers was split, so it looks like I'm going to have to do the same.
