Hello i am at the montca bit baffled by my F4. Fir no apoarent reason she wont start!! I am a fairly good ,but by no means expert, (obviously!!)mechanic.
I have checked everything, condensir points plugs and of ciurse fuel arriving.
The problem is that there is no spark at the plugs!! Changed the plugs and no difference. Checked the bobin and condensor on my other 4l f6 and they work. The points are fine and set correctly.
Anyone got any ideas,as im stuck!!

Very sorry about the crazy spelling!!

No spark at the plug means there's a fault in the ignition system. If you're SURE the condenser is working properly (have you tested it?) and everything else is O.K., then I suspect the coil and its connections may be at fault. Is there 12 volts at the coil? If not, the ignition switch may be at fault.

More help if you need it-just ask!

Is there a spark at the points when you turn on the ignition? If so, is the carbon brush in the distributor cap stuck? Is the rotor arm okay and pushed fully home?
If not, when you tested the F4 coil in the F6, did you use the LT coil-to-distributor wire from the F4? If not, perhaps there's a problem with this wire,
It's worth checking that everything's in place on the distributor side terminal (where the LT wire connects) - there might be a short there.
Good luck!

Hello thanks for replying, i have tried three condensors. I am pretty sure now after tinkering for a while today, as you say its the bobin or the ignition switch. There is power to the bobin ,but if take the central wire out of the distributor cap touch itvon metal and turn the engine over there is no spark. Tomorrow if ive time ill try a different bobin. It's the blue one on the left thats being tricky

No spark at the points, no i didn't change the condensor from f4 to f6! Tomorrow ill try the f6 bobin and condensor on the f4.Good job i enjoy mechanics!! Ill get there eventually and thanks for your reply.
