Battery needed

Here in France I need a new battery but I am a bit confused by choice

The current battery is Renault branded and 12v/40aH/330A En.

Would a Bac L02, 50AH - 440A battery be a problem?

Normally the batteries have a 3 digit number somewhere in their part number. This is a fairy standard set of parameters, covering Power, Charge rates, terminal orientation/type and physical dimensions.

Not seeing any details on the type you quote. but the rating look OK if the dimensions work.

I have an 063 (Startup Power: 440Amps, Capacity: 45Ah Dimensions (LxDxH): 207x175x175mm) type in my R4 (same as classic mini) and it originally had an 053 type (Startup Power: 400Amps Capacity: 45Ah Dimensions (LxDxH): 238x129x225mm).

The 063 fits nicely on the battery tray and was about 2/3 £ of a replacement 053.

L'eclerc, Roady, etc should have a good selection of sensible prices for both types although 063 more common

I've just replaced our GTL's battery with another Bosch S3016 (048). (The previous one failed after 10 years, which I think is pretty good, considering it's not driven over the winter, and just put on charge when I remember.)

It's a 45Ah battery, with 300A startup power.

I have also recently replaced my GTLs Bosch battery, and I thought that had done well at 7 years of continual use, so I've replaced with the same as quoted by you jjad.

Continual use is probably better for batteries than occasional use, Brian. We must get out in our R4 more this summer :)

All the best, Jonathan
