Hi, has anyone fitted a bicycle rack to there Renault 4? I'm taking an old bicycle to France this weekend and I don't think I am going to fit it in the boot, with all the wheels off etc (experiment tonight!)! I need to take the bike and to save me a longish trip delivering it too somebody else to take for me, I may invest in a rack. Has anybody experience off this? Do they fit easily? Where should I go, Halfords etc? Anyone got one for loan in London!?!

Car is go 3 up including moi as the driver.

It is definitely possible to use a bike rack on a R4. I know someone who has done it.

I think that they used a standard rack for hatchbacks from Halfords, though I don't know whether they are the same now. We're talking about 12 years ago!

I remember seeing 15 years ago an Italian R4 with only the parcel shelf folded that carried a bike in the boot (and still had room for four people), of course both wheels had been removed. It should be possible depending on the wheelbase of your bike.
For me the best solution is a towbar rack. I fitted a towbar just for this reason, but it is far better than any strap-on bicycle rack. Otherwise, my bike fits inside a R4 with only the front wheel removed and the rear seat folded.
