Body Off Question

Hello,

My rear suspension mountings are rusted and to make the repair easier I plan to separate the chassis from the body.

What I need is to lift up the chassis say 10 cm at the back of the car to have easier access to the damaged area.

I removed all bolts etc but the chassis pretty much still sticks to the body.

I am using a jack to lift up the chassis, but the whole car moves and the body simply does not want to separate. EEK!

Is this a good idea? How do you separate the two? Any tips?

Regards,

Zsolt

how i did it

hang car on garage ceiling hook with help of chain jack.
Raised rear wheels for about 10cm from the ground with chain jack and leave it over night.

sorry for bad pictures but these are the best i have!

The body is held to the chassis by mastic.

The official service manual says warm it with a hairdryer to soften the mastic and the body should then lift off.

Thanks guys for the advice. I will jack it up and hopefully I'll see a gap between the chassis and body tomorrow morning :D
