Hi, I had a very expansive week. I bought a left front wing for 6,25 pounds and the front chassis cross part for 31,37 pounds here in Prague. Above all, delighted by Malcolm´s welding tutorial, I bought a small MIG/MAG welder and so I started a new epoch in my life: to become a welder  My R4 requires it :)

Cross members are still available? My car will need one and as much as I can see from the cars that I've been looking around they all have problems with the front cross member. I am thinking about buying a welder but the price of cca 400 euros is too much for me at the moment as I am planing to buy yet another R4...

I bought the welder for 183,12 pounds. The price is without the bomb and without the wire. Minimum output current is 25 A, so I´m not sure, if is it the best for R4 paperthin sheets...

25 amps is good. Most of the cheaper welders available in the UK have a minimum of 30 amps. Mine has a minimum of 20 amps, but the manufacturers make up the specs as they go along so that doesn't really mean anything.

To get the best out of it you'll need 0.6mm wire used with a shielding gas (best to use a mixture of Argon and CO2).
