Bonnet and boot lid swap

Hi again . I have access to a 1982 R4 GTL and wondered if the tail gate would fit on my 1972 R4 L , also would the bonnet fit on my car although I realise the later car has more bracing bars under the bonnet .

Tailgates from 1966 onwards are interchangeable. Late '82 onwards French production cars have smaller hinges but you can keep your existing ones.
The later bonnets can be fitted to earlier cars but not vice versa.

Hi Angel. Your comment re bonnets above, is it possible if you re engineer the bonnet structure to match the later arrangements?.

If you study a GTL bonnet you will notice that the inner reinforcing structure is rather complex compared to earlier bonnet's simple -but ingeniously effective - pair of struts. I think it would be hard to replicate, I have seen some attempts that were not up to the point regarding bonnet stiffness.

Hi Angel and thanks. I will look at that. I have always lusted after the earliest bonnets, so this has come as a disappointment. I understand what you are saying and will have a good look at it. Thank you.
