Bonnet hinge thread size?

Due to sheer stupidity on my part, I've lost the two nuts for the bonnet of my 91TL. They are so much in a safe place that I can't find them. Can anyone tell me what to ask for at the local engineers on Monday?
They seem to have a very fine thread and nothing I have fits. Help much appreciated.

Hello John, I think you will find they are 6mm plain nuts. I see you are reassembling your car at the moment so it might pay you to buy a selection of nuts bolts and washers, all metric. An assorted box of these can be obtained on-line from a few suppliers, one being Namrick. Classic car shows are also a good source of this sort of stuff. It's always a good idea to have a ready supply of fastening in the garage even when the car is finished, just in case. Regards Brian.

Have a funny feeling that they have 11mm spanner size which are m7 and not very common in use had to order some off eBay as my local nut and bolt store namrick wanted silly money m6 and m8 available easily from diy stores but not m7
Renault locally had none
moped and citroens use m7 quite a lot if that helps

I have sometimes the same problem with imperial bolts and nuts (used on lpg mountings)...
Obviously here metric stuff is easy to find and cheap. M7 is not so common but there is a shop for agriculture mechanic that keeps some of them (not stainless or galvanized, what a pity).
If you find difficult or too expensive to find parts online I can just buy them for you in an hardware shop and send without problems...

Very kind offer, I will try tomorrow when the engineers open. I thought overnight about things and checked side door and back door hinges. They are all different size threads and not same as bonnet - ? Why

Because the bonnet hinge nuts are stressed, they hold the bonnet in place. Door and tailgate nuts are simply stoppers.

M7 was common practice for most French cars of the 60s-70s.

Problem solved, I drilled out the 7 mm and welded in 8mm studs, bonnet seems to fit OK. Thanks to those who contributed.

M7 bolt 25mm long.
It is not so big problem to find it, but you need to order it, and wait. At lest here in Croatia!

I have just bought a whole back of M7 bolt and M7 nuts from my local motor parts supplier. Citroen and Renault seem to use these so I have 50 of each just in case ;)

R4 is full of M7 nuts and bolts. So every "real";) R4 owner need to have pack of M7 nuts and bolts.
