Hi Team
I know this is totally unnecessary for a Renault 4 owner! Afterall why should we stump up to get all those other cars out of trouble - you know the sort of callouts ... "I put Petrol In My Diesel", "Can't change a tyre" "Where is the bonnet" , "My VW Beetle has boiled dry" ... "The Engine Management System light is on"..."I've locked my keys inside ..."
But... just suppose the unimaginable happens!
I was driving to London on the M4 and a nice RAC rep was looking for business at Membury Services. I thought that mentioning a 25year old car was a conversation stopper. Far from it. Steve loves R4s!. His Dad had one and Steve learnt to drive in it!
And yes RAC can cover - think Steve said around £8 per month - to repair or get you home! Seems good value to me. OK mileage will be low and we look after our cars but would you offer that service for £2 per week?
I told Steve about the forum. I'm not advertising except to say when someone is professional and not pushy I like to share.
Have you similar experiences from the AA, RAC, Green Flag etc?
Do young mechanics recognise a pre-electronic car or have to call for backup?
If anyone is covered (only talking R4 here ) and has made an emergency call, what was your experience?
I'm off to make a coffee!
Cheers.
Mark
