Well that's interesting because I have just returned from Brittany near Damgan and I didn't see many 4L's at all. I did buy a 1957 land rover though. Some people think it is a wreck but I think it's like new

Bit of a motley crew there Rich, but nice to see some of them are still on the road. Were you tempted to bring one home? Mike, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so we all know exactly what you mean. Just needs a little work for MOT eh?

I think its time for a vote Brian?

Is this:

A: A rust bucket

or

B : Straight out of the Land Rover factory in Solihull?

Hmm, past it's best, but...... Needs a bit of TLC?:D It looks like it is all there, just not in the right order.

After some careful thought Ian I think it might be rust bucket.

I agree with Brian.....sorry mike

Well chaps, you may be right

But Mike has youth on his side and he has time to spend the next 30 years turning a rust bucket into a sows ear or do I mean a sows purse?

I for one am now so old, I have given up buying unripe bananas in case I keel over before they ripen...oh to wind the clock back..

Now Brian, when you spread your picnic out on a hugely spacious Porthtowan beach at low tide, take pity on the poor Italians who have this as their beach at low and high tide and it costs 10 Euros to plonk your towel down and another 5 euros for a beach umbrella!!

Hmm, it's a bit crowded, standing room only eh Ian, nice scenery though, but of course not as good as Cornwall, or Devon I might add. Bet they get more current-bun though.
And I know what you mean about time but I reckon even Mike is up against it with that one.:D

I dunno, I do wonder how it got like that, low bridge or scrap heap challenge style donor vehicle !

My first guess is solid underneath - I am probably wrong tho.

I really liked the blue F4 and Chez Marcel...Found a load of other stuff too mainly citreons!

It would be the F4 for me too, as I do like commercial vehicles anyway. I'd probably paint it the same colour as Marigold, but without the flowers!

My land rover is in mint condition and will be returning to England this weekend. Albeit I have a replacement body to fit. My rose tinted glasses are burgundy now and still darkening
Her daughters mad boy friend decided to tidy up the farm with a forklift three months ago, sadly he couldn't lift this so it was shoved out the way.

All I need now is a French farm

He's obviously not a classic vehicle enthusiast. Early LWB Landies are quite rare aren't they? so it must be well worth restoring, and rose tinted specs, you just gotta have em.

I already own the fourth oldest surviving series one long wheel base 107" station wagon but it needs full restoration and i bought the french one to aid me in doing so.

The 107 had a unique chassis and the rear cross member was also unique to this model. LR only produced 5001 between 1956 and 1958 of the 107 station wagon and only 200 were sold in the UK due to the very high purchase tax on them. 52 are known to exist today and most need restoring like mine and yes they hold their value well.

I see you've got your work cut out Mike but what great project, so rare, and what a super bit of kit when it's finished and on the road. I love it.

I hope to have the chassis on rebuilt axles by Christmas along with the engine and gearbox rebuilt.
