lol oh yeah! Top marks anyway to Richard (who didn't cheat) ;)

We've bought it as a project, probably to use either as a pickup or rallye raid replica. Seeing as we've got a Gordini turbo engine or 3 sitting around, well, you can guess what I've been thinking :)

It's been lying upside down in a small, shady, wooded, very damp area next to a stream for at least 8 years so to say it's rusty is an understatement! We're going to try and lift it out in one piece so we can use the chassis as a pattern for a spaceframe, along the lines of the superleggera method - a tubular chassis with the panels bolted to it. Imagine a super lightweight R4 with 110hp and 4 wheel drive :p

Sounds like a very cool project. I've heard that 4x4 spare parts are hard to get hold of and that there's some bit that breaks (don't ask me which bit). Would it be strong enough for a turbo?

Happy to share dimensions if you fancy building a jig for the chassis (fairly sure I have them written down somewhere - otherwise MR-61 or any of the factory manuals has good dimensions that should be better than relying on an actual chassis).

Thanks for the offer Malcolm. I've got a factory manual somewhere which will be a great help when the time comes.

I've read about the weaknesses of the 4x4 system (I don't know which bits break either!). Seeing as the bits are in such a bad state we'll be getting the diff and box rebuilt so will pick the builder's brains to see what he thinks are the weak bits, and what he can do to save them. I've seen a 4x4 fitted with a tuned 1300, which I know doesn't have as much torque as a turbo but at least it shows it can take more than an 845cc's meagre output!

hi chris (and alan ) happy new year to you
best not rebuild 845 box and bolt to turbo engine or youll have to make it mid engined and put steering wheel other end of car
how is wales any snow yet?
fear it may have melted by the time your project is complete or will it be multi purpose ready for Arctic circle or Africa ?
Me,my next project may be using 4x4 R6 1108 chassis and drivetrain , Rodeo bodyshell ,possibly turbo diesel r19 engined
but then again i best get the yellow peril out again first oh and mot the blue one
cheers paul
