Can't open door from inside

Hi folks, it's been a while! I have a new addition to the family and I'm not talking about another 4L... Had to buy a 'new' car as I couldn't safely attach a baby seat in Felicia.

Lately I've been unable to open the driver's door from the inside. It feels as though the handle doesn't quite turn the latch far enough to release it. I'm sure I've solved this problem before, but I can't remember how! And the latch mechanism is a real pain in the arse to work on.

Anyone else had this?

Congratulations on the arrival! I had to extend our seatbelts using a Securon SE-227 seat-belt extender. You'll probably find that children prefer the R4 over modern cars. They have very good taste.

Congratulations as well. Regarding the door handle, I have just had to sort mine out too. Essentially there is a roll pin that operates the latch. It pokes threough the spindle equal amounts above and below. The inner door opening mechanism has a hood on the end which slips over the roll pin. The lower half of the roll pin is pushed by a lever attached to the end of the door lock button. Mine broke, and as a result I couldn't open the door from the outside. You have to take off the inner panel and undo the inside door latch mechanism. It will lift out. The door latch itself is attached to the door with 2 star key bolts. Mine were quite tight. I didn't have a roll pin to hand, so I just put a thin nut and bolt in to act as the pin temporarily.
