Hello,
I have recently acquired a used 839 engine, I already have two previous (One from an R4, and another from a Toro/Continental).
I assumed they where all the same, but while rebuilding/restoring this new one, I ran into a small issue. The carburetor I had used for the other two (the SOLEX 32 DIS) did not fit...
It turns out that the carburetor bolts on this particular engine measure 60mm (Center-to-Center), while the other two measure 65mm. Are there known variations to this engine, or is this is some sort of manufacturing defect???
I don't know the origin of this engine, and the bolts don't look bent or modified in anyway. I hunted around, but because this car is somewhat obscure here in the states, I wasn't able to dig up any information. All the reference material I have suggest these cars came with a Solex 26, or Zenith 28 (and the only readily available version here -is the Solex 32 -because of continental). But I can't imagine the Zenith would have a different dimension.
What am I missing??
Thanks,
