Circlips

Can anybody please tell me what if anything 2 circlips which were on the gear linkage 3/4 of way along from bulkhead going towards bracket which has rubber and nylon bush in are supposed to do as position I found them in they don't serve any purpose.

This is position of circlips on my GTL before dismantling.





Maybe somewhere in my books have length from one end of rod to their position. need to check.

Believe that purpose is not to push gear link rod too far front.

But not certain of this conclusion

Thanks Petak that was roughly where they were and guessed it was something to stop pushing rod to far but I also thought they to far back to do that.i will put them back in same place they were they have marked rod over the years they been in that place so easy to find spot they came off from
