The car had been driving fine up to last week when the engine (8valve) stalled at some lights, the engine started ok but it stalls straight away, but if I kept my foot on the throttle to bring the revs up its ok.
First I did remove the throttle body, the idle control valve and the throttle position sensor and cleaned it and replaced, still the same…
then fitted an idle speed control valve thinking it would solve the problem, now the engine races to 4,000rpm then after the engine warms up slightly the engine surges between 1,500 and 3,000revs. Have looked for air leaks, seems ok..
Looking at the idle valve when in the body it doesn’t seem to go out far enough, is there a procedure when fitting these?
Any ideas will be welcome.
Cheers Mick.
