Hi,
I have just purchased a Clio dynamique 1.2 16v 2004 and it has two problems. Please can you help me find a solution?
1.
Since I have bought the car the gear stick has been well a pain. It moves non stop. It vibrates with the engine wich does not alarm me to much, however, it also moves forward and back with the acceleration and de-acceleration. It is getting worse and I am worried it will start to pull itself out of gear. If I press slightly on the accelerator the gear stick jumps back and then if I let go it jumps back again! Repeating this makes it look like it is dancing. It moves a good few inches! However, no sound and gear change is still smooth. Is this an issue? If so how do I solve it?
2.
I was at a traffic light with my clutch down driving my mum to town. WHen it went green I went to go put jsut got nothing from the accelerator. I thought nothing of it thinking I must have stalled it. At the next traffic light I made note ofmy clutch being \ll the way down and before I even lifted my feet my mum said the engine is very quiet and then became worried as the engine had shit its selfoff again. This time knowing that it was not me stalling it I gently made my way into te next turning, however, it was reving badly and cut itself out. Now in the middle of a turning I tried to start teh engine again. It started and then turned itself off in second making two large reving sounds, however my foot was away from the accelerator and I was not in any gear. I sat helpless trying again and again with no luck making the time gap larger each time. I noticed the longer i left it the longer it lasted. I left it for about 3 mins and then started it, it lasted lnog enough for me to lift the clutch and get out of everyone's way. As it was at a car park I just left it for 2 hours whilst in town worrying. When I came back to the car it worked and it has down ever since. Please note this was the only day I drove the car when it was very cold and the windows etc had frozen over before I drove it I thought it might have been a faulty Top Dead Centre (TDC), as it is listed on the parkers website. I took it to a non Renault garage and he does not know. It came up with the engine coolent problem on the dashboard but there enough.
Any help?
Thanks!
