The front end of R4's seems to be the topic of the month - so I thought I'd add my bit.
Claude the van has, for some time now, been getting the odd clunk from what seems like under the front passenger side floor (he is LHD) - the sound was not unlike a stone or lump of wood hitting it. The noise only happened when going round left hand bends. Early investigations showed a somewhat squashed anti-roll bar U-bracket and a worn rubber - new parts were ordered and fitted but no joy .
Today -as advised by greater (R4) minds than mine( :clementi: ) I decided to check the suspension ball joints as per fredrick's tech tips.
Jacked up the suspension - clunk again - lowered it - jacked it up again and watched carefully to see what moved. The RH mounting bracket for the anti-roll bar shifted slightly with a clunk - both bolts were slightly loose - now tightened and after a short test run seems OK, a test run round some of the hairpin bends round here should really test it out.
Photos show able assistant and the loose bolts (one behind the torsion bar)
