whilst the cooling system is drained, i'm going to change the head gasket, as i was getting water out the exhaust pipe and having to top up the bottle a lot.

quick question...when i've clamped the liners down, can i then turn the engine over to have a look at all the bores?....ade

yes, but I wouldnt. 25 year old paper liner seals can be more Than fragile once disturbed. Once you break one, you can open up a whole ca of worms, engine out etc.

The wear (if any), will be at the top on the "thrust" side.

If you have no wear lip, it is probably OK
