hello,

Has anyone got any tips when removing the doors please , it doesn't appear to look like an easy job. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.

Simple operation, especially if you have assistance to take the weight of the door. You need to undo two small nuts on each hinge, where they attach to the body, with small socket set and door simply lift off.

Thanks for your reply, however on this R4 it appears like each door has to split pins each holding the door on that simply will not move.

Mine is a late model but also has roll–pins. I first tried to punch these out with some difficulty. Then I realised that the hinge brackets were simply bolted to the body, I think they were 8mm and simply unbolted. On the back doors there are holes in the inside of the pillar through which a socket extension passed to undo the bolts. I accept the earlier models could be different. Good luck anyway.

Is your car an early one with an external top hinge? Remove the check strap, remove the nut at the bottom of the top hinge pin, open the door and wiggle it upwards so the pins come out of the hinges. Be careful as the door will jump as it comes out and bend the metalwork on the door.

The car is a 1984 french model. The hinge is held by kind of a split pin. I want the doors off as the entire door is being resprayed. Many thanks.
