Door seals glue

Hi Guys, I,m new on this forum and I am currently restoring a Renault 4 Clan.
I know that you guys must, by now, be sick of door seal questions but I am really struggling to find a good proper glue to attach the door seals.

I have made an initial attempt of glueing a small section with the Pattex shoe glue but soon abandoned the idea.

It doesn't seem to stick in a reassuring way and above all, my biggest issue is the yellow colour that is almost impossible to glue without seeing it along the edge. After spending many months doing up the body work, I dont want to now messit up with yellow glue.

Are there any glues that are black in colour , and can do the job efficiently?
Does anyone know if the "Patec Gummyprofilkleber" is black in colour?

Many thanks

Mike.

The glue I used dried a little yellow agree black would of been better especially on the tailgate

Try finding a local supplier for Wurth glues. They are a german brand of panelbeaters consumables, and do a black contact adhesive.

Thanks guys, I`m going to do a test run on an old 4L tailgate that I have. Going to do half with the Pattex total and the other half with a glue that I bought from Wurth designed for door rubber seals and dorr beadings, and it is colourless.
Will post some pictures soon.

I have used Pattex total glue! It worked great. It has been almost 2 years now and rubbers are all in place

You can see little bit more here

Hi Petak, can you please tell me a bit more about this Pattex total glue ? Do you need to apply on both surfaces? is it a gel consistency, does it dry quickly? I see on you picture that it dries totally clear which is very good.
I have now tried Wurth rubber glue and it does the job of glueing very well but it still leaves yellow marks and it is a very messy process. I have spent a Year preparing the bodywork to a high standard and contact glue is just not doing it for me.

Pattex total is transparent glue and it is like gel.

I have applied it only on rubber and left to cure on air some 10 to 15 minutes.
I have test it with my finger. If it sticks to finger and stretches like chewing gum than it is right time to put it in place.

It was hard to position rubber on door frame. It took me at least 5-10 minutes more to position it right. So applying time is long and you can work easily. But if you press it on door frame and you need to change position than it can be really messy as glue is stretching and it stay on both surfaces, rubber and door frame.

In addition i have cleaned door frame with anti-silicon cleaner to degrease contact surface.

After whole rubber was in place i have secure rubber with masking tape and close doors.
Left it like that overnight (almost 24 hours)

It is still holding to the doors after almost two years.

Thank you so much, did a test run on an old 4l tailgate that I have here and after 5 hours it is looking great.
