Door window seals.

Hello everyone
I am restoring my R4 and foud out that the sliding windows seals are rusted and need replacement.
The one I found on franzose.de (they have poor foto to compare) and ebay looks different from mine- they don't have the extra rubber lip that would attach on the door edge on the inside .

Will it be ok for the window frame to be hold in place ONLY by the screws not by the rubber ? If yes
has anybody tried using iniversal seal which is much cheaper (2 euro for 1 meter where i live)

My original seal is mostly rusted in the bottom part ( only part that doessn't have the rubber lip ) and i thought about cutting out only this part and putting there some substitute.

I was looking for same thing and found some similar seals. Not exactly the same but possible substitute.
At the end i have managed to find good used ones.

Try to contact forum member Angel. Maybe he has some brand new to offer.
He can offer door seal for shure, but window seals i am not certain
 
I see woolies have only got the "franzose.de" type which would be ok but I would glue the frames to the door just to be sure then. This type of seal is available in Poland for half the price ( 2pounds per metre)
Has anybody used them and can confirm that they will be ok ?
 
Can you help with a source for these? As in the seals for the door, not window tracks.
 
I assume we are talking about the late plastic window frames, these were fitted with the rubber lipped window channel.
This channel serves to fix the frames to the door, just like a windscreen seal does. If you change the type of the window channel, you need a way to fix the frame, too. It is OK if you drill holes around the window frame and fix it with small self tapping screws, just like the early type sheet metal window frames. You should also provide some way of sealing the frame to the door. Plasticine type sealing strip, like the stuff used between the chassis and body worked perfectly for me.
"Franzose type" channel is armoured I think, making it stiff. I have found that is holds its shape and place nicely but is a little fiddly to fit on the rear windows. The other type which is flexible needs to be glued in place, otherwise it may wrinkle or come out of place with time. I prefer this type, as it is much easier to fit.

Thanks for the info. My plastic frames were screwed in place by four screws ( one on each side, screwed through the seal -probably previous owner's idea) I think I will go for the armoured ones and use some sealant that will hold them in place additionally to the screws.

Thanks for the door seals offer but my car was fitted with some universal in perfect condition and they fit great.
