Hi. my R4 has 4 drum brakes with 3 studs for the rim assembly, but i can see R4s with front disc brakes & with 4 studs. how can i do that? is there a newer model than my 1983 fitted with that? or i should buy that of R5 as an example?

You don't need to go to 4 stud hubs. The disc brakes fitted to post-83 R4s (and most R5s)can be transferred directly to the R4. The rear brakes will need replacing, too, as the handbrake must now act on them. If you can find a small remote servo, from a Mini for example, you will wonder how you lived with drum brakes...
Additionally, if you have the early wheels without holes you will need at least a pair of GTL-style wheels, as the rivets and pressed slots on the earlier wheels will foul the brake calipers.
