Hi, has anyone experience of electronic ignition on 4L's.

I need to replace the points and rotor so thought might as well do something
to improve the spark too! Any hints on makes and simplicity most welcome.
Thanks

I put in the Boyer Bransden electronic ignition kit when I had the starter motor reconditioned a while ago and the combination of the two made a huge difference. The F6 was sitting for 12 days over the Christmas and started on the second turn of the key. I'm very pleased with the improvement.

I too, fitted a boyer bransden kit.
It transformed the starting, and slow speed running.
Fuel economy seems better as well.
It has to be the best kit on the market.

Thoroughly recommended.

I went for boyer bransden too, it seemed to improve the response to gas and fuel economy, but the best point is that you can go back to the old way just swapping 2 fast-on...

are we talking about the Boyer inductive discharge kit where the points are retained?

Has anyone tried Gammatronix electronic ignition it's on eBay for £28.49

I fitted this to my GTL and the improvement was pretty impressive.
However, at the same time, (as per the instructions), I fitted brand new distributor cap, points and rotor arm, (and I also set the timing and dwell angle).
So, who knows which bit did what?
But, after I left the car unused for six weeks, outside in damp Feb/March, it started first throw.

It seems to work in the same way of the Boyer kit I have...
Or there is some difference?
