I need some big end bearings for an 845 cc engine that are 10thou undersize.
Does anyone know of a good supplier 'cos my local factors drew a blank.

Without wanting to promote them too much, try Renault Classic Car Club www.renaultclassiccarclub.com , they seem to know their onions and have a decent number of contacts for older stuff.

Have you tried a Renault dealer? If you can persuade the parts guy to dust off the old microfiche. Mind you, they would probably only supply standard size bearings if any.

Did your local motor factors look for the parts or make any phone calls? The Renault 4 parts are often not listed in their books and the motor factor often can't be persuaded to dig any deeper.

Otherwise the Wind Classics Renault 4 Garage in the Netherlands might be able to point you in the right direction.

Fields Engine Services in east London (0208 539 5205) found me a set, delivery tomorrow morning, for about £23. That's pretty good in my book.
