espace engines

Hi I have an early Mark 1 Espace, 1985 with the 2l petrol engine...and its just done the head gasket and the clutch is very heavy...So I am thinking of a second hand engine transplant.
The question is up to what age can I use the engine from, also is it easy/possible to change a later one with fuel injection to the early carb system mine has. There are lots of cheap early 90's ones around but no 80's...

nearly kept the engine from this one i scrapped 2008 but sadly didnt
the injection engine 91 -96 has got different ports on head meaning manifold wont line uo as cutout for injectors
engine from fuego 2.0 R18GTX R25 GTS will all fit easily as all carb type suggest taking engine out and relacing clutch and head gasket while out
have got few bits still around other than engine if your stuck
