Hi Everyone,
I have a FEMSA distributor on my R4 1108 engine. The shaft had become stuck with standing too long. It is nicely free now and there is no damage. The shaft end-float is a massive 2.66 mm. I am guessing that a spacer has been left out at the drive dog end.
I can probably get a spacer made but I need to know the desired end float for the shaft. Can anyone help with the figure or a spacer/ collar?
William

might not be what you want to hear but mine was about the same engine runs ok so back it went and there was no spacer in mine either
my trouble was I was used to Porsche 356 tolerances I think the R4 was put together by blacksmiths for farmers you pay your money and take your choice
the 356 needs a mortgage for the smallest of spares the R4 they give the spares away with cornflake packets

Thanks. I have an admission....the spacer was stuck to the underside of a tin I was using not to loose the bits Doh !
The spacer was 4 shim washers with a thin black Tufnol style washer in the middle. There is a similar arrangement under the bob-weight plate
