Hey guys, while on the hunt for new inner wings for my R4, another car group I'm with suggested Fibreglass to replace the wings with but because they don't know the car are unsure if its a good idea.

Thier main concern was if the inner wing was a supporting part of the car.

What do you guys think of this idea before I go asking around my local companies about it.

cheers, I thought i saw some one on here had made some.

Hi :)

the chassis makes all the rigidity of the car on R4, the body is just bolted, this is the reason why the inner wings are not a supporting part. As many others on Beetle chassis, there was a replica in France during the 80's and the 90's, it was called Tilbury and all the body was in fiberglass, and just bolted on the R4 chassis ;)

Beetle chassis -_- there is a guy local around my way bolting all sorts of things to beetle chassis.

I went to him about restoring my R4 and he asked me how much I wanted for it as he said about doing wonderful stuff to it.

I gave the work you did on your post a quick look while looking for local companies to make them. (I have no space here, and anything I try my dad wreaks within seconds, I had to rebuild one of my bikes in my mates garage miles away and replace the front end of my car in a rented garage)

Hopefully found one who gave the reply 'Boss is out, email him, he likes old cars'

Hey guys, been in talk with a local body shop who believes he can do each wing for about £80 each, anybody interested? These will be 100% fibre glass.
