Now sold to a military collector. A bit surprised by the lack of interest from the R4 community, especially when it was on eBay at £1100. Can anyone tell me what was wrong?
Thanks.

For me I've already got one. :D

They tend to sell better if they are original and RHD. LHD just knocks a couple of hundred quid off but I'd guess matt green paint would have put a lot of people off. Photos and details of what's been done can be reassuring to potential buyers - I know there was a restoration thread on here and well worth linking it from any adverts here or on eBay.

Glad it's found a new home in the UK.

I guess a lot of R4 drivers are also using their R4 as a regular means of transport, that group of people's already got an R4 plus they probably don't feel like driving a military R4. This is really a collectors item I guess. That puts the regular R4-driver off.

Maybe that's kind of an explanation?

The machine looks immaculate though! Great!

Thank you, guys,
I guess that I am blinded by the fact that it is a civilian car underneath, & one in perfect condition underneath with a very low mileage, which are the things I would look for. I would therefore think twice before offering a "La Poste" F4 or an orange ex road works 4, or even an ex fire dept 4, which are usually VERY tidy, because they are painted in an institutional colour. You could still use them for every day transport, though. With only 180 road legal R4s in use in the UK I would have thought that there were plenty of collecters still looking fo one!

Yes I'm as surprised as you that nobody in the 4L community bought your car. It must be the only one of it's kind in the UK, and I for one would have loved to buy it had I been looking for one, and you certainly weren't asking a fortune for it. I just hope the new owner uses it, and it doesn't end up gathering dust and unloved in the corner of a barn. You did your best to sell it to the right person, what more could you do. I guess I'm just a sentimental old fool, so please excuse me.:(
