I am just getting ready to put the quatrelle in Primer and the only thing I have not taken off the body is the black plastic fresh air vent below the windscreen.
I undid the screws but it would nt budge do i have to dismantle the dash to get to something behind to get it out or is it just stuck and with a bit of careful pulling will come off?
By the way... we have decided to paint it aubergine purple.. should look nice..
Thank you as always

seem to remember that the plastic grille has got square plastic pegs built on to back which expand rawlplug style when you insert screw
problem is they stay wedged apart when screws removed many years later
also once released there is al linkage which un hooks sideways to control air flap
managed to get mine off ( see pic not sure what my mate was looking for though)

Hi Greeney,

Don't know if this is useful to you or not, but when I resprayed my car and cut the final coat, I used the standard Farecla G3 cutting compound and then finished it off with a product called 'Finesse it' made by 3M.

The shine on the finish was amazing and it was the first car I had ever sprayed, so I'm no pro at spraying.

I have used the same 'Finesse It' polish on our old silver 4gtl, which was looking really tired and looked for all the world just like grey primer. It even managed to put a brilliant shine on 21 year old french metallic paint, and so saved me another re-spray ! It's half the effort of T-cut and twice as effective, even on a hot day. Even my neighbour, who's a Triumph concours nut, is converted.

Just incase anyone interested the 4 torx screws came out and what you have to do is to grab with both hands and squeeze with thumbs horizontally along the middle bottom as there are some slipover tabs along the bottom and a groove along the top...
Job done and yes it was attached to a straight arm so just slide it off
Thank you for the help I can now spray happily:cool:
