I believe there are two different types of front disk brakes on the F6?

My parts man needs to know if i have Bendix or Girling brakes. I cant see any markings to say which mine are, is it possible to tell from this picture?

The damn autofocus chose the background on me! I should supervise more closely in future!

Any advice would be much apriciated.

Thank you

Cheers Steve,

Would it be a safe bet that we also have Bendix drums at the back?

Or can these cars be a mismatch of bits?

Don't bet on anything!! The only way to find out the make of the rears is to remove a drum. The two types are pictured in the Haynes manual. However, as a clue, the brake shoe retaining posts on Girling shoes use a three piece set up consisting of a rod, spring and top clip which are easily removed. The Bendix uses just one spring and a retainer which is fiddly to remove and these need replacing each time the shoes are removed as it's easy to damage them.

Cheers for your help Steve, a bit of investigation last night revelaed we have Bendix rears too.

So now i know which bits to buy!

If you need rear shoes I suggest that you buy them from Renault as they come as a kit which includes all the fittings. If you buy the shoes from a motor factor, you'll have to go to Renault to buy the fitting kit (if it's still available by itself).

The fitting kit isn't available by itself from Renault. I've got a set of ferrodo brake shoes and even the motor factor who supplied them can't get hold of a fitting kit. I ended up getting another set of brake shoes from Renault (including the fitting kit).
