Anyone know the sizes, (or how to find out), of the front wheel bearings for the GTL.
The front inner's gone on the drivers side and as I have an industrial bearing stockist nearby I thought i'd use them. All I need is the size, unfortunately I can't remove them to get the size as I need to drive it to get the bearings...Catch 22!

Thanks, Rudi.

Steve ,
I am in the same situation as Rudi.Could you send me the same infomation please.
Thanks Ian

Ian,
Please can you pm Rudi to see if he still has the info as it was a year ago and I would have to start from scratch again. If Rudi does not have it then please get back to me.
Steve

Size is 30x62x16 for both bearings, sealed on outer side only.If you fit this type, fill the space between the bearings with high temperature grease. No problem if you fit completely sealed ones, though.
One minor detail is that the original outer bearing had a groove on the outer ring with an o-ring (to stop grease escaping and water getting in?). This is not to be found on a "generic" bearing, and it is not absolutely necessary, but if you want to be 101% correct you can find it in the SKF "wheel bearing kit" VKBA 636.

Europarts list the complete kit for just under £19 and they are in stock and they do mail order if you don't have a branch near to you. Not a bad price and can't really see a bearing stockist being that much cheaper.

My contact tells me the reference number is 6206RS (ball bearing with seal one side). Wholesale price much less than £19 too!!

Front wheel bearings NSK

Hi friends, are you sure, there are 6206 RS? Here are for 6,25 pounds each. They are produced by NSK, with a special grease filling for the car wheels. RS means the rubber cover on both sides. There is one bearing in each hub there, or two? Who knows the bearing number for rear wheels? Greetings from Prague :) Pavel

Oh yes, you are right, so cheap! Two of them on each side.
Bearings are standardised, and what manufacturers do is buy the bearings from the factory (SKF, FAG, NSK, KOYO...) then pack them in a fancy renault box, add a seal maybe or the driveshaft nut (both worth 5 euros) and sell them 5 times up! :-(.

There were 3 or 4 types of rear bearings so impossible to tell you from distance. It is also a standardised size, so measure their dimansions and go with them to a bearing stockist.

Help...

I have a 83 GTL on the ramp at the moment stripped front bearing.
My local supplier has ordered and sent me QWB 302 KIT and on trying to fit the kit a relised that one bearing is correct and the inner one you can put in with your hand..large gap around the outside. The inner bearing supplied has a rubber lip seal....i know this kit aint right but the catalog only lists this kit from day1...

i use the renault parts system they use at a dealer and the renault partner shows 7701460637 (bearing size 30/62/16) on both bearings..

can someone point me in the right direction...

cheers

andrew

QWB 302 is the correct kit as supplied by Quinton Hazel so I reckon it has been packed incorrectly. Your supplier needs to sort this out - if his supplier has more kits, get them to open a couple of boxes to check.
