Does anyone know of a source/supplier of gasket sets for the Gordini 1400 atmo engine. Thanks Stan

Many thanks Malcolm, I tried to email them today and as yet have not got a reply, but then it is Friday.
Stan.

Hi Stan!

Really regret that it could not help you.
Hope that mecaparts did the job

Thanks Petak, that's them on their way from from meca parts, expensive but at least I'll have them if I decide or need to take this engine apart, just not sure which way to go since the engine has sat in a garage for nigh on 25 years.
The previous owner said it was an excellent engine when he took it out of the car all those years ago and advised me to just clean it up and run it,but I couldn't resist taking inlet and exhaust manifolds off for a look, when I did I found a fair bit of gunge and spiders! and a little rust on some of the valve stems.
I have cleaned all this through the ports but obviously can't get further in.
Quandry quandry !! I'm tempted to turn her over on the starter for a while with everything open, just have to make a decision !!

I would suggest you to poor little engine oil inside every cylinder through exhaust or inlet valve, and spin it few times by hand with flywheel. Or use some tool to help spin.
Just to spin all moving parts inside the engine. and then you can try to start it up

Oil

Yep that's along the same lines as I was thinking, oil and or diesel down the plug holes, he actually filled the bores with oil when he put it in the garage, sounds like if and when I get her to run it's going to have to be outside !!

IT is good thing that previous owner fill bores with oil. That is way to preserve engine for long time out of use.

Vessel engines are preserved in same way. Plug is taken of (or heater for diesel engines) and engine oil is fill in.

Than first thing that you should do is drop off old oil and put fresh one inside

Yes I'm thinking of using a diesel oil for the first run at least really just for the detergent element of it.
