I have purchased the kit shown below to repair the gear change bush that sits on the end of the shifter above the gearbox on the R4. I have fitted the large rubber grommet and the white nylon bush. Does anyone have any idea what the remaining two black plastic parts in the picture are for???IMG_3551.JPG

arent they "gliders" so gear-rod moves nice and freely through the metallised rubber grommet through firewall ? -R.

their internal diameter is smaller than the gear change rod...

The kit you have bought is also used on Renault 5 mark 1 the base of the gear stick connect to a rod which those bushes fit into
The 5 use normal floor change stick on most models

That is useful info Paul. My R5 doesn't have any bushes where the bottom of the gearstick meets the rod. Gear change is rubbish.

Later HA 1 5 sp box uses ball joint at box end but guess you cold buy this kit and have a spare rubber kit for R4

Hi Malcom

I used the large rubber bush from this set on my 5 for the gearbox end connection. They sell them individually. It helped a lot!

Hi chris
Malcolm car is 5tx as I said above using HA 1 gearbox the 5 speed cars stopped using the bush to improve linkage
The plastic bits are what malcolm needs
And you may well soon as they are NLA direct from renault ☺

I think I might have a couple of the plastic sleeves already but I didn't know what they were for. I'll have a scout around. Are they fitted with any sort of lubricant or just fitted dry?
