Gearbox filler plug

Hello everyone. I am aware there have been threads on this before, but I can't seem to find the gear box filler plug. Could someone send a picture or tell me it's exact whereabouts. Thanks I've attached a picture of what I think it is...

Hi Alan
That's the one! There's a similar one underneath the box if you need to drain it.
It's best to use a special square spanner on these - they're depressingly easy to chew up.
For filling the box, I find it easiest to remove the undertray and use a container with a flexible spout. You can then squeeze the oil into the box - much better than approaching it from above, as you don't risk losing the top/spout of the container.

Yes, that's the filling plug. If you are changing the gearbox oil completely, then my advice is to make sure you can undo filling plug before you drain the oil from the drain plug at the bottom.

Hi Andy and Jjhad. Thanks for the advice! You are right about them being depressingly easy to chew up. I managed to destroy the engine oil plug a few months ago when changing the oil

I made my own tool to undo the filler plug the hole is 10x10mm

This one serves very well as a brake adjuster spanner,too, if you have an earlier R4.
