Gearbox Noise

Hi

That noise does not sound good.I would drain the gear oil in the first instance to check for metal filings in the oil/small pieces of metal which would indicate something is amiss internally. You might want to check the oil level before draining to see if it was low in the first place. Refill with fresh gear oil and take it from there.

I've not heard that before. What are you doing to cause the noise - is the car at idle?

If it's at idle out of gear it's only the input shaft spinning. Possibly the noise is caused by a failure of the springs in the clutch plate.

The engine on the video is turned of in neutral, I pull by handThe engine on the video is turned of in neutral, I'm pushing the 4L by hand

Then something has come out of place. Gears rubbing against the edge of other gears when they should not. The top cover can be unbolted with the gearbox still on the car. You should be able to see if anything is touching.

Or could be something fell into the hole on top of the bell housing if the noise sounds like it is further towards the engine. Or less likely something bad with a driveshaft. Jacking the front of the car up in the middle and turning a wheel would rule out the driveshafts and differential.

Thanks @malcolm. i will try what you said... But the strange, the car runs well and without any sound and the gears works well too.

Just a thought- the gear lever bush looks not standard. Does it make any difference if you push or pull the gear lever a little?

@malcolm you are the men!! This bush is more tight than the original and without any explanation (today) part of some gear stayed engaged.
