Grand Scenic steering rack warranty stitchup

I've been totally stitched up by Renault. The servicing department at a main dealer spotted that my steering rack was worn, back in February when it had a £500+ 36,000 mile service and three months before the warranty was due to run out, but didn't tell me! When the MoT was due I took it to an independent garage which said the gaiter was split and the steering rack rusted, and had been in that state for ages, but because it is a few weeks out of warranty, Renault won't replace it under warranty, even though it would have been replaced under warranty a few weeks earlier.

Hi Lady 63, You have a good case - pursue it - Ring Renault UK Customer Services on freephone 08000 72 33 72 and give them a full account of the facts and remind them this is about their reputation - you did your part and had the vehicle serviced etc. - good luck - 'play the band' and don't forget to tell them you love the car etc.:)

Good luck with it, keep at them as Brian says place them up, tell them how good their product usually is and don't let them fob you off at all.

The nicest company I've ever had like that was Mercedes, I had an early Sprinter and the rear wheel came loose wrecking the hub and wheel etc, it was just out of warranty but they replaced the whole lot without even a quibble. Even now 10 years later I remember how well they treated me when that occured, its what make people stay using those peoples products, unlike Renault where I'm just about to post a quite similar story to yours

Good luck regards Richard.
