Hi all, thought I would join up as taking on an R4 or R6 has been in my mind for a while now. My grandfather had a white 1970 R6 and I don't know if that's where it comes from.

I am increasingly disillusioned with the complexity of moderns and back to basics really appeals - this has been somewhat exarcerbated by experiences with my 1993 Mercedes SL - some amusing tales can be told of real Mercedes quality if anyone wants some ammunition next time someone takes a pop at French quality.

Only Renault experience so far was a 21 turbo quadra back in 1994 - fantastic!

Hope to chat to owners on here soon. Off to see what info abounds!

Welcome to the forum.

My father had a 21 Savannah which he really liked but it was only the basic diesel, it was a brilliant car though.

Good luck with your search for a 4 or 6.

If it's a 6 you're after I'm sure, Derek had a lovely white 6 for sale that he'd done a lot of work on recently.

Thanks for that.

21 Savannah on ebay just now!

Did look but only saw the lovely blue 6 for sale - the one that the chap has done a huge amount of work to.

Swap for an SL500?? Not if he has any sense!!

I had a Savannah 2.1DT 7 seater, brilliant car, until the gearbox decided that 5th gear was sufficient for all needs - no! But I wish I'd kept it. Meanwhile my Renault aspirations are kept in check by an R4GTL so if you're ever in Central Scotland get in touch........ there is an R4 graveyard up Comrie way which might be a useful source of parts, and there is another R4 languishing not 3 miles from here...........

Hi there lanciaman, Derek that pepper mentioned is Derek Flavell of Renospeed, he's based at Lewisham, South London. Yes he has a beautiful R6 for sale and also an equally nice R4 TL. Derek is a really good bloke, and certainly knows his stuff when it comes to things R4.

Thanks both. R4 languishing would suggest unloved somewhat...?? Comrie? An official R4 place or scrappy that happens to have? Do they have a web page?

Renospeed - heard of them, but not sure where and in what context. Need to see if I can get some more info.

Must be as mad as the rest of you.....

Hello Sage of Torphican,
This R4 would be the one through Westfield?, I notice there's an R4 van in the garden now too!. It would be a Herculean task to remove them!
Alan.

Your 4 looks a nice one Alan.

There is a red 6 for sale - I've linked in in other Renaults section. Panel rust but may be on ok regular driver, rather than a show car. Show cars all very well but every stonechip a heartache!
