Halogen Conversion Legallity

I used H4 lamps for a couple of years, they are even mentioned by the user book... Someone told me that this lamps ambsorb too much energy and the cable may burn, so I turned back to the R2 lamps, that request less energy... Really, I do not notice so a big improvement with bigger lamps, our cars have good phares, on my own.

Going from 45/40 W to 55/60W lamps is no problem for the R4's wiring, and make a noticeable improvement in lighting power.
Are there laws in your country preventing you from using brighter lights? Provided they are correctly adjusted, I can't see why they could be illegal.
You can go even further and fit 80/100 W lamps as I did on my '75, and see the real light, but you must fit a headlamp relay so as not to overload the switch.

I installed H4 bulbs after my old P45T ones failed. They are noticeably better at night, and I've not had any wiring problems. I don't know about the legality of them, but as you know, lighting laws can be a bit illogical sometimes.

I have H4 yellows in my 4 and they are fantastic! as long as we don't exceed the UK construction and use regulations of 55/60W for the road then there won't be any problems.

Pepper is right, as a former member of the boys in blue it is illegal to exceed the 55/60w limit, relay or not. Whether anyone would be bright enough to notice is another thing alltogether, but forwarned is forarmed as they say, happy new year to all.
