Hi has anyone any idea how I can re tighten the handbrake lever to the body ? It was like this when I bought the car and thought it would be an easy fix but I cannot see where the bolts are located?
it has come loose on the front 2 bolts and they will not tighten but they are not visible in the engine bay so where is the back of the bolts located ?? Got me puzzled !
Is there anything behind where the bracket mounts that I can get to to fix it or if there is nothing behind the panel can I just zip it with the Mig welder to re attach it ? without setting anything on fire or melting any wire's in the loom ?

The handbrake is fixed to caged nuts which press through a hole in the panel. The cage rotates 90 degrees to lock in it's hole. Try pulling the nut outwards while turning it to see if the cage locks in position. Otherwise the heater needs to come out to access the nuts.

Thanks Malcolm, is there anything behind there that would not like heat on it........if I was to run the mig welder along the edge of the bracket I mean, am I likely to damage anything behind it ? just lazy to have to strip it all out that's all

Nothing nearby. There is the foam seal for the heater matrix where the heater bolts on. I think the heater pipe behind will have good clearance.

ohhhhhh bo***ox......:( I suppose I will have to strip it then don't fancy a fire from the foam:eek:........hey ho everyday a new job to doo_O cheers Malcolm just glad you knew what was behind it ;)

Just to show my appreciation.
Thank you for info. I have the same problem of handbrake slipping off. So now I have pre info to tackle the repair.
