i know the bolts on my '67 850 can be turned by moving the rockers etc, but its a pain....does anyone have any dimensions that a 14mm socket needs turning down to so it'll fit....Adrian

I have the correct socket - I think. Just haven't been able to find it yet!

Best to get a standard 3/8" drive socket and grind it down until it slips past the rockers.

the renault socket is a strange shaped thing and isn't really something you can make, I have one you can borrow and possibly copy. am coming to uk on 06/06 and can post as long as you can get it back to me + costs ?

socket

it was needed to grind away only one side of the 14mm socket.I did it for my 845cm3 from 1977.

thanks very much for the repliies...it looks a bit tricky to make, so i'll experiment with an ordinary socket, first

dead easy just grind a taper on your socket till it fits, your are not putting any great torque on it any way .best alan

I borrowed a small set from a club member here and they were thin walled sockets, I don't know who the manufacturer was but a worthwhile set of tools to own for any old French car. They saved the day on the manifolds and all manner of bits and pieces. In fact I might do some research, you'd think facom would make them?

Cheers
Steven
