Headlight bulbs

I recently changed a headlamp bulb (410 type) on the left hand side. With the new bulb (Bosch 410 type) the dipped beam headlight beam pattern is wrong, I replaced it with another bulb (Bosch 410 type) and it too gave an incorrect dipped beam headlight pattern.
Each time the replacement bulb was correctly located in the headlight. Also the dipped beam pattern with the old bulb had been correct before the bulb failed
I moved the existing bulb from the right hand side, which has the correct dipped beam pattern to the left hand headlamp and it also gives the correct dipped beam pattern when installed in the left headlight.
Hence I conclude that both of the new Bosch 410 bulbs fail to give a correct dipped beam pattern.

I was thinking of changing the headlamp bulbs from the 410 type 45/40W to P45T 60/55W. Can the existing wiring harness and headlamp switch cope with the increase in current?
Has anyone changed over to P45T bulbs. I would hate to change to P45T bulbs and then find that the headlamp switch cannot cope.
